Kansas Child Support Payments FAQ’s

Where do I send my Kansas child support payments?

You send you your payments into the Kansas Payment Center.  For the exact address, click on the link.

What type of payments does the payment center accept?

The payment center accepts checks and money orders.  Please note, on your payment, you need to specify your case number on the check or money order so you get credit for the payment.  You can also designate your employer to automatically withhold your child support payment from your paycheck and your employer will then send the payment directly to the Kansas Payment Center.    In order to allow your employer to withhold income from your paycheck, you will have to sign an Income Withholding Order.  Your employer should be familiar with this process.

Why can’t I send the payments directly to my ex-spouse?

This method is still allowed by some judges, but generally it is required that all payments be made through the KPC, unless good cause can be shown payments should not go through the KPC.  The KPC was created in a response to Federal and State law in order to enhance and create efficiency in processing child support payments.  In cases where judges do not require the payments to be made through the KPC, they require the payor to submit an annual accounting to the court in order to confirm all required payments were made.

How Does My Ex-Spouse receive the payment?

Payments will be made either by direct deposit or through a debit card.  Checks are not mailed to the payee.  Direct deposit into the payee’s bank account is the preferred and most efficient method.

What if the amount of child support changes?

If you have a child support order that has been modified, approved and filed with the District Court,  then you need to fill out this form that will be sent to the Kansas Payment Center.

What if my ex-spouse is not making the child support payments?

Do not contact the Kansas Payment Center, the payment center is only a payment processing function, they do not enforce orders.  You have several avenues for assistance.  You can contact your attorney who assisted you with your divorce or paternity action or Kansas Child Support Enforcement through Kansas SRS.
